These readers are available in various configurations, including the MS-3000 Mullion for door frames, MS-5000 Single Gang for wall switches, MS-7000 for extended range, and MS-4000 for vandal resistance.
  • Keri Cards and Tags – The Keri Systems proximity cards and tags come in various formats to suit different needs. These include the NXT-K key-fob in Keri NXT Format, PKT-10X key-fob in Keri MS Format, and PSK-3 key-fob in 26-bit Wiegand Format.

Keri MS Format

The Keri MS format, a proprietary protocol developed by Keri Systems, is a key component of their access control solutions. Despite its widespread use, particularly in conjunction with the PXL-500 Tiger Controller, little is publicly known about the specifics of this format. Keri Systems has maintained a level of confidentiality about the inner workings of its format, which is a common practice in the industry to ensure the security and integrity of its systems.

What is known, however, is that the Keri MS format operates in the low-frequency range of 125 kHz. This frequency range is commonly used in access control systems and RFID applications due to its ability to provide a good balance between read range and system performance.

One of the critical features of the Keri MS format is its unique identification protocol. This ensures that no two cards share the same number, providing a high level of security and reliability for the system. This unique identification system is crucial in access control scenarios where the integrity and security of the system are paramount.

Keri MS Cards/Keyfobs

Keri Systems' MS Series Proximity Cards are designed for use with MS-Series Proximity Readers. They offer a range of features that make them a reliable and secure choice for access control systems:

  • Wallet-Friendly – The cards are thinner than comparable proximity cards, making them easy to carry in a wallet or purse.
  • Durable – These cards are highly durable and designed to withstand everyday use in a wide range of temperature and humidity levels.
  • Unique ID Codes – Each card has a unique ID code, enhancing the security of the system.
  • Lifetime Warranty – Keri offers a lifetime warranty on some cards, underscoring their commitment to quality and durability.
  • Interchangeability – Cards can be used interchangeably on the same system without worry about ID code duplication or format matching.
  • Read Range – The read range varies depending on the model of the reader used, Ranges fall between 1 inch (2.5 cm) with some models and in less ideal conditions and as high as 15 inches (38 cm) in a clean RF and electrical environment with the card presented parallel to the reader surface.

Let’s now cover the four specific types of proximity products available using the Keri MS proprietary format:

KC-10X Standard Light Proximity Card

  • Provides maximum read range performance in a thin package
  • Manufactured with a vertical hanging slot punch to be easily carried in a wallet or purse or worn on clothing with a clip or lanyard
  • Can print bar codes
  • Lifetime Warranty
  • The size of the card is 2.13" x 3.38" x 0.065" (54 mm x 86 mm x 1.6 mm)
  • Each card is sequentially numbered (except for C5 formatting)

Unless the user requires the combination of magstripe and proximity, the KC-10X Standard Light Card is recommended over the MT-10X Multi Technology Card whenever possible because of its lower cost and lifetime warranty. The Standard Light Cards can be fitted with a PVC label or “skin” which can accept a direct printed image to provide photo ID at a much lower cost and greater durability.

MT-10X Multi Technology Proximity Card

  • Allows the user to combine several identification technologies in a single credit card thin credential
  • Can print barcodes
  • Can accept a direct print video image, typically a photograph, a bar code, and other graphics from most industry standard dye sublimation printers, to create a custom access credential
  • The size of the card is 2.13" x 3.38" x 0.042" (54 mm x 86 mm x 1.1 mm)
  • Each card is sequentially numbered (except for C5 formatting)
  • Comes with a 1-year warranty

The key cards can be ordered with or without a high coercivity magnetic stripe, which is helpful if there are other types of systems in use that are magstripe based, such as cafeteria vending. They are also convenient for customers who may have a proximity-based access control system at one site and a mag stripe-based system at other locations, allowing the user to carry a single card.

PKT-10X Proximity Key Fob

  • 100% transfer molded and can withstand the weight of a vehicle
  • The size of the fob is 1.57" x 0.98" x 0.157" (40 mm x 25 mm x 4 mm)
  • Each fob is sequentially numbered (except for C5 formatting)
  • Comes with a lifetime warranty

Keri's PKT-10X Proximity Key Fob provides user convenience in a small, ergonomic, and extremely durable package. The fob is equipped with a brass eyelet for attachment to a key ring, ensuring the neck of the tag will not break during the life of the system.

AP-10X Adhesive Proximity Patch

  • Has a peel-off sticky back that turns your familiar personal items, such as a wallet or cell phone, into proximity credentials
  • Can be applied to photo IDs or most existing RFID cards as well

The AP-10X Adhesive Proximity Patch provides a flexible and convenient solution for those who prefer not to carry separate cards or fobs, transforming everyday items into proximity credentials.

Keri MS Card Readers

The MS Series readers are designed with a modern, attractive aesthetic and a thin profile. They are compatible with Keri’s KC-10X and MT-10X proximity card styles as well as the robust PKT-10X key tag.

They can also read any Indala ASP card or tag if they are to be used in conjunction with a PXL-500 Controller. This compatibility ensures a versatile and comprehensive access control solution.

All of the Keri MS (MicroStar) readers utilize the 125 kHz frequency and are designed to work with the Keri MS format.

These readers are also exclusively compatible with Keri's access control system based on the PXL-500 Tiger Controller. It can also be used with the NXT-2D/-4D and MSC-2D/4D Controllers when using an Interface Module. This compatibility allows for cost savings and the continued use of existing credentials when upgrading to the newer NXT controllers.
